Twitter is a status update service and an instantaneous chat tool. According to Twitter:
Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?
I use my Blackberry and send a text message stating what I am doing to Twitter. Twitter posts it on my Twitter page and then a great little plugin created by Alex King called Twitter Tools takes my “Tweet” (the status updates I send to Twitter) and automatically loads it onto my Blog as a post. So…even if you’re not a part of the “Twitterverse” you can still find out what I’m up to.
I like Twitter for many reasons:
-
It’s fun!
-
As soon as you begin to “follow” other people (you receive their Tweets/updates), you feel instantly popular.
-
Information posted is often cutting edge or just plain interesting
-
One way of getting Blog updates from your favorite Twitterers
-
It’s a way of bringing readers to my Blog
-
It’s a great way to search for and network with people who have similar interests and/or locations
