Almost fell in, originally uploaded by cletch. I've spent a lot of time in natural settings and have a healthy respect for mother nature. Last nights severe weather resulted in an abundance of water rushing down river in the Smoky Mountain National Park. I climbed down beside the road - up river from here - to get a better shot, lost my footing and slid down towards the water. I now have a very sore hip and a gratitude that I didn't fall all the way in. I also have a mangled pair of Continue reading

Fun to drive!
Fun to drive!, originally uploaded by cletch. Been driving this today. It's been 15 years since I drove standard but it didn't take me long to realize it would be very expensive for me to drive regularly. I'd never be able to stay under the speed limit! New York November
I spent a few special days in New York City. It was the first time I'd been and was fortunate to be able to stay in a hotel halfway between Times Square and Central Park. Caught Mamma Mia and toured the city. Loved it and have to go back to do the one thing I really wanted to but missed. The Met. Continue reading
A Fresh Start
"What you've done becomes the judge of what you're going to do - especially in other people's minds. When you're traveling, you are what you are right there and then. People don't have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road." William Least Heat Moon, Blue Highways If you believe in past lives, I must have been an explorer in mine. I'm happiest on the road, whether it's a two hour car trip or a 10 hour plane ride, it doesn't matter. What is most important is viewing the Continue reading

Farming Wind
We took the back roads when driving to Wasaga Beach so my new drivers could practice. As we approached Shelburne, Ontario we were greeted with a "never before seen sight." A wind farm! It was alarming and beautiful at the same time. The turbines dwarfed the trees and farms they loomed over. They spread as far as the eye could see. Here's a video with some basic (unconfirmed) information on the wind plant. Even the video does not do the overwhelming view of the generators proper Continue reading
