I was back on roller skates again for the first time in too many years, thanks to an invitation to P.O.W.E.R Organization's fundraising event hosted by Latoniya Jones. Her organization helps children aged 7-16 increase their confidence, competency, and proficiency with math. In my head, I was movin' and groovin' to the sounds of the seventies, but the reality was much different. They didn't play Disco Duck or Sometimes When We Touch, and I found my body was unable move the way it used to. Continue reading
Ridin’ Detroit
When traveling, one of may favorite things to do is to bike an area. I've seen several places on two self-propelled wheels. Vancouver's Stanley Park & Granville Island, Ontario's Pelee Island, Michigan's Mackinac Island, St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands and now, closer to home, Detroit's Dequindre Cut. I highly recommend all the tours because each is completely different. We started off with a walk along the Riverfront and a quick walking tour of the Renaissance Center. The Detroit Continue reading

Metropolitan Youth Symphony
Did you know there is an opportunity for your child to play music in addition to the school programs? I had the opportunity to see the Metropolitan Youth Symphony perform recently. I was surprised at the level of music these young people were playing! Junior Strings Orchestra - grades 1 to 5 String Orchestra - grades 5 to 9 Concert Orchestra - grades 9 to 12 Symphony Orchestra - grades 10 to 12 Their next concert is February 6th at the Ford Community and Continue reading

140 Character Conference is HERE!
I'm very excited to be heading downtown Detroit tonight to the Doubletree Suites for the Speakers Cocktail Party. I plan to drive back home but will pack a bag, just in case I decide to crash at the hotel instead. Wednesday morning I'll be heading over to the Fillmore to participate in the 140 Character Conference. You can learn more about what I'm doing at the conference on www.CyberCletch.com. Awestruck by TEDxDetroit
This week, I attended TEDxDetroit. I choose my conferences carefully because I don't have much time to waste on events that don't teach or provide some sort of return on my time investment. I missed the first TEDxDetroit last year because I wasn't sure about that ROI. I watched a couple of 2009 videos and knew 2010's presentations would be interesting as well. I applied and was honored when organizers offered me a seat for this limited attendee event. For the past two days I've been Continue reading
TEDxDetroit: Wednesday, September 29th 2010
I'm excited to attend several conferences over the next month. Last year when TEDx was in Detroit I wasn't able to go, I made sure my schedule was clear this time! TEDxDetroit is about generating positive ideas for the world from Detroit. If you're passionate and want to contribute to the discussion, apply to attend here. Watching the news this morning, WXYZ covered a story on "Believe in Detroit" a campaign to promote the positive in Detroit. It seems to me communities such as Motor Continue reading
EmpowerMind is Refreshing Education!
I pick and choose what I promote, simply because my reputation is important to me. I think long and hard on things before I make decisions. I must believe in a person or product before I recommend it. My grandfather used to tell me, "You are only as good as your word." It was solid advice. EmpowerMind is one of the programs chosen as a worthy cause for the Pepsi Refresh Project. Detroit now has an opportunity to win $250,000 that will be used to help it's students through the Empowermind Continue reading

Window to the World
Media has always been the window to the world for those of us who don't get to see it ourselves. Personally, I've always believed that it's best to "see for yourself," especially when it comes to opinions of others. I listen, file the information, and wait to make my final interpretations when I see the subject with my own eyes. This applies to many areas in my life, including relationships and locations. Over and over again I've learned that my opinions differ from others and that Continue reading
Wax my What? My 1st Ms. Esthy Visit
I've been home waxing for several years but recently stopped because my hair became so fine it was difficult for me to remove it with one fabric tear. I also found the process too time consuming. Last year I attended a conference where Tiffany stood up and spoke to the presenters about promoting her personal waxing services. I was immediately impressed by her professionalism. We spoke briefly and I began to follow her on Twitter. At that time I didn't think I needed an esthetician. Fast Continue reading
OnStar Command Center
Last night I visited the OnStar Command Center. I was just a tad bit excited but I think I managed not to embarrass myself. Except for being so smitten with my surroundings that I didn't see the gift on the seat and sat on it - several times - before noticing it. Doh. The group I was attending with had been invited for a tour through OnStar's Facebook Fan Page. We were escorted into the OnStar boardroom where they served us a delicious sampling of food and refreshments. OnStar's Jim Continue reading
Star Qualities I Appreciate
I don't have the groupie mentality. If I see a star, I see someone just like us, a person who puts their pants on the same way I do. I don't even bother to collect autographs. Except in the case of one star: OnStar. I feel a little silly admitting I am gaga over a company, but it's not so much the company itself, rather what it represents to me. I love to travel. Every year I would put my two boys in the car and head out to destinations in Ontario, Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia, Continue reading
Jersey Boys Rocked the Fisher Theater
Between Christmas and New Year I decided to introduce my two teenage boys to a little theatre culture. It wasn't their first experience, they've seen Lion King in Toronto and Annie in Columbus, Ohio but they were much smaller and easier to impress then. I hadn't heard much about Jersey Boys other than it was a great production. Both my kids are quite involved with music at school so I hoped the musical would hold their interest rather than illicit the typical teenage response of eye rolling Continue reading
NOCBOR, Numerology and Men
Last night I attended NOCBOR's "After Holiday Party" to watch Doug Hardy Jr. of Century 21 Today get sworn in as President-elect and my business associate Geoff Leach get sworn in as secretary to the 2010 Executive Board. The salmon from the buffet dinner at Fountains Golf and Banquet Center in Clarkston was excellent but I only stayed long enough to consult with the numerologist at the party. Numerology advocates suggest your birth numbers can help you make better life decisions. Being Continue reading
